Subscribe and Become A Member!

New Feeling is structured as a multi-stakeholder cooperative. When you subscribe, you also become a member and co-owner – helping to equitably pay contributors (a growing list of talented music writers across the country!) through dues and shape the organization’s direction through your voting power. One member, one share, one vote.

We know that everyone may have a different reason for joining New Feeling. That’s why we’ve created several membership types, each tailored to particular benefits and roles. We encourage you to choose the membership structure that best suits your capacity and intentions.

For now, we have three member classes available, with the intention to introduce a ‘Writer Member’ classification as we grow. (Don’t worry – you’ll be able to switch membership classifications when that happens, if you’d like!)

New Feeling’s membership seeks to build up a community of like-minded individuals passionate about supporting new models of artistic production and appreciation. We thank you for your interest and willingness to take this exciting step with us.

COMMUNITY MEMBER/OWNER

You believe in New Feeling’s goals, want to support the cooperative monetarily as a subscriber and involved community member. You’re looking to add your voice to decisions affecting the cooperative’s future through co-ownership, or are simply excited to back New Feeling as a patron.

Importantly, your monthly subscription/member dues contributes to a remuneration structure that fairly compensates Canadian music writers and helps push the co-op toward sustainability.

As co-owners of New Feeling, Community Members receive voting rights at Member Meetings, including New Feeling’s AGM, to vote on matters that affect the co-op as a whole and their membership group; they also are eligible for a seat on New Feeling’s Board as an elected representative of the Community Membership Group.

Membership is $6 monthly or one payment of $70 for the year.

FAQ

I’m unable to continue supporting New Feeling at this time. Can I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership to the co-op at any time. Upon cancelling your subscription you surrender your ownership share in the co-op immediately, as well as any titles or responsibilities performed with the co-op (i.e. a seat on the board).

I can no longer afford to support New Feeling financially. Can I still be involved with the co-op?
Yes. The terms of membership to the cooperative include a ‘hardship exemption’ for those who are financially unable to continue their patronage. Organizing members and eventually, Writer members, can claim hardship at any point in time. Community and Advisory members can claim hardship after a period of three months. If this applies to you, please contact newfeelingcoop@gmail.com before cancelling your membership on our website.

I’d like to support New Feeling but do not see the amount I’m willing to donate represented on this page, or don’t feel comfortable donating through PayPal.
Thank you! Let’s talk. Please feel free to send an email to email us at newfeelingcoop@gmail.com.
